Three years ago, a band formed in the Sacramento region to play the type of music they enjoyed most
growing up. Not classic rock performed by so many area bands, but Hard Rock and old school Metal.
They began calling it "Classic Metal" performing songs by Motley Crue, Dio, KISS, Judas Priest, Iron Maiden,
Motorhead, Skid Row, the mighty Led Zeppelin and others. Rue The Night sets out to perform with the same
level of energy as their heroes at every show.
The band members continue to be amazed by the strong support
they receive from show audiences. Singer Mike Back says "it's unbelievable how strongly people react to our
set list". It seems that others are passionate about this genre of rock music, too.
While not considered "dance" music, it never fails that fans of this music get on the floor and shake it
up. Members of their audience always play air guitar and sing along to their favorite Classic Metal songs.
They have also enjoyed success beyond their expectations. From guitarist Mike Howard, "We’ve played shows
with some of our music idols including Pat Travers, Michael Schenker and Frank Hannon of Tesla. But the
highlight was playing the Whisky A-Go-Go on the Sunset Strip!"
Classic Metal is, indeed, alive and thriving!
